VC Tang

VC Tang is a storyteller, facilitator, and interdisciplinary artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She produces pop-up gatherings that integrate nature, food, music, and movement. Her work answers the challenges of modern livelihoods, arts advocacy, climate change, and racial belonging with the same call.

She has two decades of experience developing educational experiences and professional development programs for youth and adults rooted in leadership, wellness, and traditional practices in modern times. Her nuanced approach comes from being mentored by teachers in Asian arts all her life. She spent over 35 years immersed in community, ritual, and performing arts at the Berkeley Thai Buddhist temple, and currently trains in applying Taijiquan and Zen principles in daily life.

VC holds an MBA from the University of San Francisco, and she previously supported hundreds of leaders as Senior Manager and Co-Director of Programs at the Rockwood Leadership Institute.

With irreverence and adoration, her stories make old Asian practices appetizing. In 2022, VC self-published a cookbook memoir and has since published essays on Substack.

Born and raised in San Francisco, VC enjoys pop music, Star Trek, and epic movies.

Collective

Stir Fry Stories now houses an interdisciplinary collective of working Asian American artists living and/or working in across San Mateo County - developing and releasing new works, sharing resources and inspiration, and producing our own community gatherings. Our collective explicitly weaves in Asian American stories and artworks to enrich the tapestry of San Mateo County and forges bonds between Asian and non-Asian arts enthusiasts at-large while also offering refuge to Bay Area API artists, drawing them to resources and venues on the Peninsula.

VC Tang, based in San Carlos, is a traditional, interdisciplinary artist and culture bearer. Her work invites local audiences to pause and invoke - in spirit and/or in contemplation - in a culture of busy-ness. She facilitates participatory experiences rooted in Asian arts: ceremonial blessings, tea and food tastings, and Tai Chi movement healing. Her work stretches mainstream definitions of art and culture by making ancestral wisdom accessible for modern day arts enthusiasts on the Peninsula.

Na Omi Shintani resides in Half Moon Bay and is an artivist, community artist, and culture bearer. She organizes coastside intergenerational community engagement opportunities for Asian American Pacific Islander art exhibitions, performances, spoken word, and workshops. Her art includes familial, historical, and cultural storytelling, inspiring dialogue and connection.

Don Miralles is a Daly City-based multidisciplinary artist, utilizing music as an instrument to alchemize pain. Don speaks on love, the human condition, anguish, heartbreak, self-empowerment, gratitude, hope, and healing, inviting others to dive deeper into their own stories. Extremely proud of his Filipino roots, Don incorporates his culture into his music whether it be through lyrics, live performance elements, videos depicting themes of the Philippines. Through his artistry, he encourages transformation, rebirth, and a fiery passion to pursue your creative ideas, and hearts calling.
